Planning your Bahamas vacation
Hopscotch across the Bahamas, and take a ferry ride to the pearly
pink-sand beaches of Eleuthera, or treat yourself to a
day-long shopping spree on Nassau, Cable Beach, or Paradise
Island. Activities in the Bahamas are diverse, and as numerous as
the days of the year. The Bahamas is a magnet for tourists who travel
across the globe just to walk a stretch of its deserted beaches, or
to relax at one of its luxury hotels or resorts. Fishing, diving,
and snorkeling around the barrier reefs are popular recreational activities
in the Bahamas, where the trade winds blow continually and warm temperatures
give way to a comfortable climate throughout the year. Many Bahamas
hotels offer these activities on site.
Travel Tips
The beaches at Bahamas are its main attraction, so beach safety is
of utmost importance for vacation planners. Be sure to wear sunscreen
with a high SPF, as the sun can be quite intense, even on cloudy days.
Reapply after swimming, activity, or after several hours on the beach.
While you want to return home with a great tan, a bad sunburn can
put a damper on your vacation. Build your tan slowly during your stay.
Many areas along the beaches are patrolled by lifeguards, and families
with young children would be advised to frequent these. Bahamas is
a very safe place to visit, but visitors should use common sense.
Don't leave valuables in your vehicle, or on the beach unattended.
Numerous banks are located throughout the islands which offer currency
exchange, and ATM's are plentiful.
